Atlanta Ranked No. 4 Meeting Destination in the United States
Atlanta recently ranked No. 4 on Cvent’s list of the top 50 cities for meetings and events in the United States for 2014. Cvent, a leading cloud-based enterprise event management platform, developed the ranking based on meeting and event booking activity in the Cvent Supplier Network. The ranking represents the second year Atlanta has maintained its position among the top five leading meetings destinations in the nation.
“Recognitions like this serve as a testament to Atlanta’s continued strength as a top meetings destination,” said William Pate, president and CEO, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB). “Earning a spot on this ranking validates the significant efforts of the ACVB sales team and the entire Atlanta hospitality community.”
Atlanta is a top choice for meeting planners due to the city’s accessibility and its compact convention district that boasts a flexible hotel portfolio and event space to host meetings of any size. It’s easy for meeting attendees to get to Atlanta, home to the world’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. More than 80 percent of the U.S. population is within a two-hour direct flight of the city.
Atlanta also boasts one of the largest convention centers in the nation, the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), which is surrounded by approximately 10,000 hotel rooms within a one-mile radius. Additional options for meeting planners around metro Atlanta include the Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart, the Georgia International Convention Center, Cobb Galleria and a variety of hotels that provide flexible in-house space.
Cvent evaluated more than 5,000 U.S. cities featured on the Cvent Supplier Network to compile the third annual list. Activity was tracked from July 2013 to June 2014, and the ranking was then determined by a set of qualifying criteria, including:
- Unique Request For Proposals Received
- Total Room Nights
- Awarded Request For Proposals
- Awarded Room Nights
- Percentage of Qualified Meeting Venues
- Number of Profile Views
