Chris Coan has been tapped as the incoming chair of the board of directors for Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) in 2017. Coan is the vice president and general manager, business and government markets, for Atlanta-based Gas South.
“Chris’ knowledge of Atlanta’s hospitality community will further guide our momentum of promoting the city as a dynamic destination for meetings and leisure travel,” said William Pate, president and CEO, ACVB. “With so many major events and new development coming to Atlanta, this is an exciting time for Chris to be at the helm of our board of directors.”
Coan has served on ACVB’s board since 2014 and also sits on the board of directors for Cobb Chamber of Commerce and Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association. He has a master's degree in business administration from Emory University and undergraduate degrees from the State University of New York at Oneonta and Georgia Tech.
“As chair of the board of directors for ACVB, I’m looking forward to leading a great team of people who are focused on positively impacting Atlanta’s economy,” said Coan. “I’m also looking forward to working with the ACVB staff to make Atlanta the top destination for tourism and conventions as well as build on its great reputation as the capital of the South.”
ACVB’s chair is elected by the board of directors following a nomination by the organization’s executive committee.
