The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishing Market, held each January and July at AmericasMart Atlanta, is the wholesale industry’s largest buying event, featuring the most comprehensive collection of home décor, furniture and gifts. When planning a trip to the market, there are several ways to maximize time and enhance the shopping experience.
AmericasMart is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta with convenient access to MARTA, Atlanta’s public rail system. MARTA is the quickest and most efficient way to travel to and from The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market. With stations throughout Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead as well as the airport, MARTA offers numerous options to bring visitors from hotels throughout the city to Peachtree Center Station.
Upon arrival, attendees are given a buyer’s guide listing all participating vendors with a detailed map of their locations. The guide also highlights dining options, restrooms and charging stations. AmericasMart has an app available for download on iOS and Android to assist buyers as well.
“Downloading the app allows attendees to navigate the market easier and allows them to set up appointments with exhibitors and map out a game plan for the day,” said Jeffrey L. Portman Sr., vice-chairman, president and chief operating officer, AmericasMart Atlanta. “The app elevates the experience of doing business here to a level of unfathomable convenience and efficiency.”
The AmericasMart campus is comprised of three buildings connected by sky bridges. The largest is Building 1 which has 20 floors dedicated to home goods, rugs, holiday and floral merchandise. Building 2 stands 18 floors tall with all the latest and greatest gifts, gourmet and tabletop, while Building 3 is comprised of 13 floors of apparel and accessories for men, women and children with the addition of gift temporaries during the event.
Navigating this 7.2 million-square-foot venue requires a great deal of walking, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Dining options are located inside each building, or guests can make reservations at one of the 40 restaurants in walking distance of AmericasMart.
Before wrapping up a trip to The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market, buyers often snap a selfie in one of the four glass elevators, capturing the impressive atrium behind them for a lasting memento. The atrium was designed by AmericasMart founder, chairman and famed architect John C. Portman Jr.
